Recently I attend the University of Alabama’s Zebrafish Husbandry Short Course, based in the US, out of Birmingham, Alabama. The course, which has been running for 6 years, was a three day intensive training workshop solely focused on developing skills and knowledge for those involved with Zebrafish Husbandry and research. Covering topics from Basic Husbandry through to IVF and cryopreservation techniques it provides a brilliant overview of all things Zebrafish, regardless of experience levels. Attendees of the course came from a very varied background, from husbandry and technical staff, to heads of facility and veterinarians, which allowed for thought provoking debates and even more entertaining dinner conversations. As this was my first visit to the US, I was eager to make the most of my time, and enjoyed a few days exploring the city.
