{"id":269,"date":"2016-01-01T12:00:23","date_gmt":"2016-01-01T11:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.exeter.ac.uk\/technicalservices\/?p=269"},"modified":"2016-01-01T12:00:23","modified_gmt":"2016-01-01T11:00:23","slug":"january-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/technicalservices\/2016\/01\/01\/january-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"January 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>HEaTED membership renewed<\/h2>\n<p>University of Exeter (Technical Services) have chosen to take up membership of HEaTED on behalf of our technical staff for another year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is HEaTED?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HEaTED is a membership organisation dedicated to supporting Professional Development of Technical staff from all disciplines and specialisms in Higher Education, Further Education and related fields.<\/p>\n<p>To start getting benefits from your HEaTED membership there are several things you can do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.heated.ac.uk\/\">Register<\/a> yourself via the HEaTED website <\/strong>\u2013 go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heated.ac.uk\">www.heated.ac.uk<\/a>, click \u2018Register Now\u2019, fill in the short online form and we will send you information about courses and events happening in your Region.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.heated.ac.uk\/regional-networks\/\">Join Your HEaTED Regional Network<\/a> <\/strong>&#8211; information on your Regional HEaTED Network Coordinators and the next event in your Region can be found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heated.ac.uk\/regional-networks\/\">Regional Networks page<\/a> of the HEaTED website.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.exeter.ac.uk\/media\/universityofexeter\/technicalservices\/documents\/HEaTED_online_groups.pdf\">HEaTED online groups<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalstemcentre.org.uk\/heated\">Sign Up To Your HEaTED Online Community<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 this facility links closely to the Regional Networks.\u00a0 The Online Communities are where HEaTED members from across the regions can share best practice, access HEaTED Regional Network Event reports, take part in discussions and share resources.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heated.ac.uk\/our-courses\/\">HEaTED Course Directory<\/a> <\/strong>\u2013 the full list of courses available to our members can be found on the HEaTED website along with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heated.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/HEaTED-Final-Version-Small-EMAIL-FILE.pdf\">PDF copy of our printed Course Directory<\/a> covering the major disciplines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What does HEaTED do for technical staff?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify, source, and develop <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heated.ac.uk\/our-courses\/\">specialist training courses<\/a> for technical staff from all disciplines.<\/li>\n<li>Provide members with discounted rates on specialist and soft skills professional development and training opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Manage <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heated.ac.uk\/regional-networks\/\">Regional Networks<\/a> to enable colleagues from neighbouring institutions to meet and discuss hot topics, share best practice, promote development opportunities and more.<\/li>\n<li>Provide an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalstemcentre.org.uk\/heated\">online community<\/a> where members can expand on discussion from Regional Network Events, raise hot topics, and share discussion and best practice with colleagues from other institutions.<\/li>\n<li>Use the Regional Network Events and online communities to serve as a &#8216;representative voice&#8217; University of Exeter<\/a><\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ubma.org.uk\/future-meetings\/\">UBMA 33rd Annual Conference: <\/a>6th-8th April 2016 \u2013 Hosted by the University of Exeter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are pleased to announce that Clive Parkinson Director of Health and Safety at the University of Surrey, former Chair of USHA and a significant contributor to the development of the recently launched \u201cGuidance for Leadership and Management of health and safety in Higher Education Institutions\u201d will be presenting at the Exeter conference in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.exeter.ac.uk\/departments\/technicalservices\/events\/sciencecouncil-regionalregistrationevent\/\">Science Council &#8211; Regional Registration Event<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>As a <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencecouncil.org\/employer-cs\/university-of-exeter\/\">Science Council Employer Champion<\/a>, The University of Exeter will be hosting their first Science Council Regional Registration Event on 13 April 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Event details<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Date: 13 April 2016<\/li>\n<li>Location: &#8216;The collaboratory&#8217;, Streatham court, University of Exeter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Science Council Regional Registration Event provides a forum for discussion and communication around professional registration benefits and application with educational institutions and local industry.
