The project requires the quantification of interactions between SOC and environmental variables, combining field monitoring data, satellite images and geo-referenced spatial data on environmental characteristics. A comparison will be made with data from official estimates.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These activities will be led by Dr. Ometto and Arag\u00e3o from INPE as part of a FAPESP-NERC project coordinated by Prof Ted Feldpausch (University of Exeter) and Prof Plinio Camargo (CENA, Brazil). The position requires programming skills in R, MatLab or Python, and training in remote sensing or geographic information systems, using ENVI, ARGIS or QGIS software. It is desirable that they have theoretical knowledge and techniques for monitoring the forest C balance, and mapping the large-scale distribution of environmental variables, including geostatistics. Proficiency in English and Portuguese is desirable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Interested parties should send CV, graduate history and letter of interest to the project coordinator by email at<strong> jean.ometto@inpe.br<\/strong>, indicating \u201cPost-Doc FAPESP Name of candidate\u201d in the subject of the message. The selected candidate will receive a Postdoctoral Scholarship in the amount of R$8,479.20 per month and a Technical Reserve equivalent to 10%.
