{"id":2327,"date":"2024-10-07T11:21:07","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T11:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/ted-feldpausch\/?p=2327"},"modified":"2024-10-07T11:43:14","modified_gmt":"2024-10-07T11:43:14","slug":"new-artwork-to-highlight-forests-damaged-by-deforestation-and-wildfire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/ted-feldpausch\/2024\/10\/07\/new-artwork-to-highlight-forests-damaged-by-deforestation-and-wildfire\/","title":{"rendered":"New artwork highlights forests damaged by deforestation and wildfire"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Artwork developed by our <strong>Amazon Past Fire<\/strong> and <strong>Amazon PyroCarbon Projects<\/strong>, funded by UK NERC and ODA grants, was shown at a new artwork exhibit to highlight deforestation and wildfire. <em>Tipping Point<\/em>, by Bristol artist Luke Jerram, combined smoke, lights and sound to simulate forest fires. The installation ran at the University of Bristol&#8217;s Botanic Garden from 4 to 6 October. It was commissioned by the Botanic Garden and campaign group Make My Money Matter, which claims \u00a3300bn of pension investments are linked to deforestation. Colleagues from the Met Office used our workshop to help to communicate their research on wildfire around the world.
