We thank them for their generous and enthusiastic help.<\/p>\n<p>Participants have been recruited on the basis of the following diagnostic criteria for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/time\/about-amnesia\/transient-epileptic-amnesia-tea\/\">Transient Epileptic Amnesia<\/a>\u00a0(TEA):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Repeated witnessed episodes of amnesia<\/li>\n<li>Cognitive functions besides memory remain intact (e.g. language, attention and decision-making)<\/li>\n<li>Evidence for the diagnosis of epilepsy\n<ul>\n<li>EEG abnormalities<\/li>\n<li>The experience of other common epileptic symptoms, such as, involuntary movements, hallucinations of smell or feeling a swirling sensation in your tummy<\/li>\n<li>A clear response to anti-epileptic drugs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the right is a map of the UK showing the geographical location of the 50 TEA patients involved in the first phase of the TIME study.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The work of the TIME project depends entirely on the interest and collaboration of the patients who have taken part.
