TroPeaCC

Tropical Peatlands and the Carbon Cycle

Holly Addis, University of Exeter

I am a graduate of Aberystwyth University and read BSc Physical Geography and MSc Environmental Change, Impact and Adaptation. Whilst studying at University, I became interested in the effects of climate change on soil carbon storage and terrestrial GHG gas emissions. My MSc dissertation involved analysing land-use changes in the Cambridgeshire fens and the implications of peat sequestration, microbial respiration and decomposition. On leaving university, I worked in outdoor and environmental education both in the UK and USA. I then joined Rothamsted Research on the long-term experiments (LTE’s) where I focused on soil and crop health by conducting both field and lab work.

I’m very excited to work on the TroPeaCC project, combining my interests in peat, climate and carbon storage. I will be mostly lab based in Exeter, but I am hoping to learn lots more about tropical peatland environments!
