It was so nice to meet colleagues (all of use lat flow tested and masked) and listen to presentations in person. For me it was the first time in two years.<\/p>\n<p>We had a fantastic range of topics from the High Arctic to the Equator, from unicellular organisms to global models, and from time scales of thousands of years ago to the present day and future, presented by peaty PhD students from several institutions. The word cloud of the talk titles attests to permafrost peatlands featuring very prominently. It is not a race, and permafrost systems deserve all the attention they are getting, but there will be more tropical peatland topics when new results start emerging in the coming years.<\/p>\n<p>Many thanks to the presenters for the inspiring talks, to all the attendees for the nice chats and to Angela Gallego Sala and Sarah Chadburn for organising (they had even baked cakes!).
