Post-doctoral Fellow

I am a postdoctoral research fellow with Prof Stineke van Houte. I have a background in evolutionary microbiology. During my PhD at the University of Liverpool, I studied factors that could pose barriers to horizontal gene transfer in Salmonella. My current research focuses on understanding the importance of bacterial immune systems in shaping resistance / sensitivity patterns to phage infection in P. aeruginosa clinical isolates. To this end, I am combining large scale experimental phage infection assays with genomics to study the resistance profiles of clinical isolates. I am enthusiastic about pathogen evolution, phage therapy, and exploring how these insights could inform the development of treatments for antibiotic-resistant infections.
