With a range of talks by our lab members, both long-time veterans and new additions to the lab, it was an interesting two days of talks on a range of topics. Thanks to Meg Llewellyn for organising this year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Kayaking &#8211; <\/strong>A lovely kayak up the Helford was an excellent opportunity to clear our minds, plus some friendly cooperation in paddling two-person kayaks (and friendly competition between teams piloting those two-person kayaks). We were lucky enough to see some egrets, a curlew, and a great blue heron.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quiz &#8211; <\/strong>Aleksei and Anna put togther another inventive and challenging quiz to stump and delight our lab members, with a twist &#8211; we were given a pool of points to bet depending on our confidence in our answers! After many ups and downs, the very appropriately named Team Won&#8230; won. Congrats on your prescience!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Slide Roulette &#8211; <\/strong>Organised by Meg Llewellyn to close out our talks on the last day with something lighthearted, all of our lab members submitted a slide with data&#8230; but no explanation. The slides were shuffled and every lab member was given a slide to give a 1-minute presentation on with no context whatsoever. Honestly there are too many highlights to cover them all, but David&#8217;s invocation of Russian deities to explain a rather stochastic-looking graph, Joe&#8217;s slide on the effect of coffee consumption X hours of sleep on coding efficiency, and Iolanda&#8217;s slide on efficacy of Shakespearean remedies were some of my personal favourites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure
