{"id":891,"date":"2021-02-09T10:33:01","date_gmt":"2021-02-09T10:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/women-in-climate\/?page_id=891"},"modified":"2023-10-11T15:39:40","modified_gmt":"2023-10-11T15:39:40","slug":"our-members","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.exeter.ac.uk\/womeninclimate\/our-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Members"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Member blogs for International Women and Girls in Science<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>February 11th has been adopted by the United National General Assembly as the <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/observances\/women-and-girls-in-science-day\">International Day of Women and Girls in Science,<\/a> to help educate, mobilise political will and resources to address an important global problem, as well as celebrating the achievements that have been made so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To quote UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, \u2018To rise to the challenges of the 21st century, we need to harness our full potential. That requires dismantling gender stereotypes\u2019. Science and gender equality are key international development goals and intrinsically interlinked, especially in the climate crisis. However, women and girls still do not participate fully in science globally or in this country, especially at senior levels. <a class=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/uis.unesco.org\/en\/topic\/women-science\">Less than 30 per cent<\/a> of researchers worldwide are women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To celebrate this day in 2021 we have invited some of our members to write blogs describing what motivated them to pursue a STEM career, to reflect on the past or to comment on the future.
