April is here and that means applications for joining our accommodation in September 2026 are nearly open.
You may have already done a bit of research or perhaps you’re just starting your journey in deciding what type of accommodation you might want to live in during your time at university. We’ll be sharing lots of helpful content over the next few months to help with your application.
There are some things that you need to do before you can apply, so when you’re ready, here are a few things you’ll need to make an application to live in University and preferred partner accommodation.
Activate an accommodation account
Before you can apply for accommodation, you’ll need to register for and activate an accommodation account.

Which application to use
If you are joining as a Postgraduate student in September 2026, this application type will be live from 09:00 (BST) on Thursday 9 April 2026.
If you are joining as an Undergraduate or full-year study abroad/exchange student in September 2026, this application type will be live from 09:00 (BST) on Monday 13 April 2026. If you try to apply before then, the application will be rejected – you’ll be contacted by the University Accommodation Team and asked to recomplete your application after 13 April.
If you are joining as a Semester 1 study abroad/exchange student (not full year), this application will be live from 09:00 (BST) on Thursday 7 May 2026. If you try and apply before then, the application will be rejected. You’ll be asked to recomplete your application after 7 May. Please remember this application type is processed by the Accommodation team in date order of receipt (i.e. first come, first served).
Your offer
You need to have accepted a Firm offer to be able to apply for accommodation. If Exeter is your Insurance choice, you won’t be able to apply until August, once you have changed Exeter to your Firm.
Please note, you may need to wait a couple of days after accepting your study place for this to be updated on our systems. If you will be starting a postgraduate course, then you will also need to have paid your tuition fee deposit and for this to have been received and processed by the university.
Student number
This is not your UCAS number, but a 9 digit reference number probably beginning with a 75 or 76 (depending on when you applied for your course) and it should appear on any University of Exeter admissions or offer correspondence.
Date of Birth
Make sure you enter your date of birth in the format DD/MM/YYYY.
Name
It might sound silly but more often than not, students aren’t able to apply because they’ve written their name incorrectly! The name will have to match our records exactly so any double-barrelled surnames can be a bit tricky, and don’t use any nicknames! If you’re having problems with this, please get in contact so we can get this sorted.
Password
Your password will need to be 8 digits long and with at least one uppercase letter and at least one number.
I haven’t received my validation code yet
You will need this in order to complete the account creation process. Due to the high volume of traffic our Accommodation system, there can sometimes be a delay in your validation code being sent through. To find this email, please check your Junk/Spam folder. If after a couple of hours, this has still not been received, please contact us.
