Mount Pleasant and St David’s are the areas explored in the latest of our Spotlight blogs, from Anna, current student and Community Engagement Officer.

Things to know about King’s Road and the Mount Pleasant area:

  • It’s about 25 minutes walking distance from campus and 20 minutes walking distance from town.
  • Exeter St David’s is roughly 35 minutes away, but Polsloe Bridge Station is a 10 minute walk, although it doesn’t have step-free access.
  • There’s a corner shop a couple of minutes away, and a big Morrisons supermarket roughly 15 minutes away.
  • It’s a residential area, so there’ll be a mix of students and local residents on your street. You’ll also get trick-or-treaters at Halloween!
  • There’s a nice park a couple of minutes away, where the local residents group host events, such as monthly litter picks and an archery session over the summer. This neighbourhood also has lots of cats, so you’ll often find some in your garden!

Things to know about King Edward Street in the St David’s area:

  • It’s 10 minutes walking distance from Exeter St David’s, but a half an hour walk into town.
  • It’s between 20-30 minutes to campus, depending on which building you’re going to.
  • Your quickest route to campus will be up Cardiac Hill. There are other routes you can take, but they’ll add a few more minutes to your journey.
  • There are currently postgraduate student accommodation blocks on this street, but it doesn’t get that noisy.
  • There’s a mini Morrisons supermarket and petrol station at the end of this street.

Things to know about Eldertree Gardens in the St David’s area:

  • It’s a very convenient location in terms of distance: a couple of minutes walk from Exeter St David’s and 15 minutes walking distance from both town and campus.
  • However, the rent is more expensive than in other areas, between £650-700 a month, bills not included.
  • The houses have parking spaces, which is useful if you’re bringing a car, although you’d need a residents permit and only 2 are allowed per household.
  • There’ll be a mix of students and local residents on your street.
