As our accommodation guarantee deadline of 31 July has passed, students now applying for university accommodation will not be covered by the Guarantee. This includes undergraduate students who are coming to the University of Exeter through Clearing, or those who selected Exeter as their Insurance choice.

You can still apply for accommodation with us at the following stage and we’ll continue to make offers where we have availability:

Undergraduate students Once your study offer has been confirmed and you’ve firmly accepted a place on a course
Students who had Exeter as their Insurance choice Once your study offer has been confirmed and you’ve firmly accepted a place on a course
Students who received a place through Clearing Once your study offer has been confirmed and you’ve firmly accepted a place on a course
Postgraduate students Once you’ve firmly accepted a place on a course and your tuition deposit has been confirmed as received by the University

Top tip: Please allow up to two days for your study offer information to be transferred to the Accommodation Office before being able to access the Accommodation Application system. If you have any questions about your offer with the University, please speak to our Admissions team.

Applying for accommodation after the guarantee deadline

How soon should I apply?

We do our best to house as many new students as possible who apply after the guarantee has passed, but these applications are processed in date order of being received, so we encourage you to apply for accommodation as soon as you’ve firmed Exeter.

What choices can I make in my accommodation application?

From now on, when you complete an accommodation application you won’t be able to choose a specific residence, but you will be able to select 3 preferences of the type of accommodation you prefer (such as catered or self-catered, ensuite or standard and your contract length).

When will I hear if I have been offered university accommodation?

Once you submit an accommodation application, we’ll email to advise you if we can offer you accommodation. For postgraduate students, this will happen within 5 working days of your application being submitted. For undergraduate students this will be from week commencing 26 August onwards.

What happens if University accommodation doesn’t work out for me?

If we are unable to provide a place in university owned, managed or approved partner accommodation, or if you decide not to accept our accommodation offer, please don’t worry. There is a wide range of private accommodation throughout Exeter and we’ll have information online about alternative options, so you can make your own arrangements for living in the city.

We’ll keep this Accommodation Blog updated with helpful information between August and September. Good luck with your application journey!
