AUXETICON 2025
First International Conference on Auxetics in Construction – 24 to 26 June 2025
The built environment has been a core element of human society since the dawn of civilisation. The construction industry is a key driver of the economy, and a huge contributor in terms of resource utilisation and carbon emissions.
Despite the efforts from researchers all over the world in exploring benefits and the potential of new, disruptive ideas for a more efficient, greener, and safer construction industry, the sector is still slow in embracing innovation and optimisation of design, material selection, and construction technologies.
Since the initial proposition of the term “auxetic” in 1991 by Prof Ken Evans, the scientific interest in the description, development, and applications of these materials has been growing exponentially. In the last four to five years, the number of research articles published on auxetic enhancement of structural materials has more than tripled.
We believe it is therefore important and timely to provide a forum to the global community involved in the investigation of auxetic materials in construction applications, and thus we are launching AUXETICON 2025, the first international conference on auxetic materials in construction. We expect to host in Exeter (UK) some of the world leaders as well as rising stars on this topic, sharing ideas and knowledge over a three-day event, from June 24th to 26th 2025.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Exeter for shaping together the future of this community!
