    Byron Gerhardt

    PhD Student

Initially obtaining a Batchelor’s degree in Physics with Astronomy from the University of Exeter in 2023 and deciding to stay on obtaining a Master’s degree in physics, Byron’s interest shifted from Astrophysics to Biophysics, initially to biomechanics with a Master’s project run on the measurement of the intradiscal pressure of modelled spinal segments and the use of disc pressure in predicting movement.

He has now shifted to biospectroscopy, undertaking a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Julian Moger and Dr Ben Gardner, looking into the combination of spontaneous and coherent Raman scattering techniques to advance analytical capabilities in conjunction with Renishaw
