Ensemble Acting Showings

On 26, 27 and 28 November, the students of DRA2109 Ensemble Acting Co-Creation shared their final performances to invited audiences. The work was diverse and varied, ranging from highly physicalised dance theatre (Chains of Silence) through to a farcical murder mystery romp (Relatively Dead) through to a thoughtful naturalistic piece about isolation and friendship, captured through the experiences of university students living together in a shared house (Flat B8).

Students on this module focus on skills to create a safe and risk-friendly space to evolve their studio practice toward professional calibre ensemble theatre-making. The module introduces innovative methods of co-creation, and creates structures for self-reflection on key human skills which are developed within ensemble co-creation.

On this module, students are also able to access the full technical potentials of our studios, working with the lighting grid in TS1, accessing our wardrobe stores, and liaising with the technical team to build the production look of the pieces. They receive support from visiting professional producers and theatre-makers who give feedback on the work-in-progress, and develop their final devised pieces across 4-5 weeks at the end of the module.

Well done to all three Ensemble Acting Co-Creation pieces for successfully demonstrating these skills and making some outstanding performance work too!
