We celebrated the launch of five new Drama books for 2025 on 28th May 2025, in-person and online.

This array of new publications showcases Drama’s work across all forms of contemporary performance, richly informed by attention to resonant international, political and interdisciplinary histories.

The authors each introduced their books on orchestral ensembles; the work of significant British South Asian director, Jatinder Verma; Willy Russell’s political musical; site-specific theatre and dance; and performer training through the legacy of Elsa Gindler.

This was followed by a reception with refreshments for those attending in person.

Curtin, Adrian (2025) The Theatrical Orchestra, Manchester University Press.

Daboo, Jerri (2025) Jatinder Verma, Routledge.

Hillman, Rebecca (ed.) (2025) Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers, Bloomsbury.

Hunter, Victoria and Cathy Turner (eds.) (2025) The Routledge Companion to Site-Specific Performance, Routledge.

Loukes, Rebecca (2025) Radical Sensing and Performer Training: Elsa Gindler’s Embodied Translations, Routledge.
