2 October 2023The CDF tech team have re-equipped Studio TS3 to function as a TV Studio for the new Drama ‘Acting for Screen’ module. There are 4 cameras (3 on wheeled tripods, 1 fixed) which are all routed through a vision mixer / recorder. The whole system has been designed to be easily adaptable as the module evolved, yet still be operated by the students on the module with minimal technical oversight. Bryan Brown, the academic who has designed the module, has been working closely with Chris Mearing, our technical manager, in the months leading up to the module launch, to ensure the equipment specification the tech team have provided will do everything Bryan requires of it. Chris was also able to add some suggestions of his own into the specification, which Bryan was also able to make use of. As Digital media plays a huge role in the casting of all roles today (including for theatre), it’s essential students understand the differences in performing for a camera, and for a live audience.
