What’s coming next for the Digital Skills Initiative

Big changes are on the horizon for the University of Exeter’s Digital Skills Initiative (DSI). As we gear up for the full-scale go live date, we’re excited to share some updates on what’s happening behind the scenes – and give you a glimpse of what’s coming after the launch.

Before launch: quick wins

We’ve listened carefully to your feedback from the pilot and usability testing. Here are some of the improvements we’re making in readiness of the launch:

  • More relevant profiles – We’re streamlining the number of profiles you can select for yourself (for now), so you’ll only see what’s relevant to you.
  • Cleaner dashboard experience – we’re updating the Learner Dashboard text to make the results and recommendations easier to understand and use.
  • Library tweaks – Expect clearer titles in the Digital Skills Library, making it easier to find resources based on type and location.
  • Smarter course linking – We’re working on the internal course links in LearnUpon, so you’ll be able to jump directly from the Learner Dashboard to the courses start page (rather than the LearnUpon course directory page).
  • Clearer instructions – We’re tightening up wording across the board and adding explanations where needed, so you’ll never feel lost.

Why this matters

Your feedback has been central to shaping these changes. These updates will make the platform smoother, smarter, and more intuitive for everyone.

Thank you for shaping the Digital Skills Initiative

Your involvement—whether through pilot testing, surveys, and conversations —has directly influenced how DSI evolves. Together, we’re building a stronger, smarter digital future for the University of Exeter.

So a big thank you to everyone that’s been involved in the pilot, usability testing, and working with us to shape the Digital Skills Initiative

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the official launch.
