MyExeter has taken another major step forward this year. The app has become an essential part of everyday student life and something our students rely on throughout their day. The latest term 1 numbers highlight just how deeply MyExeter has become woven into that daily rhythm – and there’s a lot to celebrate.

MyExeter Engagement Increases

We’ve now passed 61,000 downloads, but the real sign of success is in how actively the app is being used. Students opened MyExeter 1.1 million times during term 1 last year; this year that has soared to 2.6 million. Timetable use continues to be at the heart of the experience. The feature gives students quick, dependable access to their timetable data. Also, for certain cohorts, it gives an easy way to check in and meet course requirements. Successful check-ins have already surpassed 240,000 this term, supported by expanded functionality for Medical, CEDAR and Degree Apprenticeship students.

Engagement has grown across the board. Term 1 users have risen from 21,000 to over 32,000 – an increase of more than 50%. Daily usage has doubled too, from 6,000 to over 12,000 students each day! This reinforces MyExeter’s role as a key digital touchpoint in the student experience. The longer term numbers are just as impressive – our 30-day average for monthly active users has climbed from 14,000 to 27,000, a rise of over 90%. Students aren’t just downloading the app, they’re choosing to come back because it genuinely supports how they study, plan, and stay connected.

MyExeter app Events feature in the hands of a student

Content within the app has grown significantly too. Over 750 events have been added to the events feed this term. This has been boosted by new additions like Live@Exeter, helping students discover more opportunities, activities and moments across campus. More than 250 news articles have been published, over 25% more than last year. This gives students even more ways to stay informed and access support.

Together, these results paint a really positive picture. MyExeter has become a daily companion that students trust, rely on, and use to navigate university life with confidence.

What’s next?

And we’re only getting started. Looking ahead to the coming year, we’re excited to build on this momentum. We’re exploring enhancements students have been asking for, including richer timetable data, introducing a dark mode option, and developing push notifications for communications and helpful reminders for key tasks. There’s so much potential ahead, and we’re looking forward to continuing to enhance the MyExeter experience for every student.
