After 12 months of stakeholder engagement, in-house development and design work, the Digital team are proud to have released the pilot for the Digital Skills self-assessment quiz and library. This is the first phase of the Digital Skills Initiative (DSI) and is due to be fully launched to all University colleagues on the 19 March.
Find out more about the DSI and our work in the Digital Skills space in our previous blog posts.
The first phase of the Digital Skills Initiative pilot
Over 100 University stakeholders were invited to pilot the first phase of the DSI. This includes an online Digital Skills self-assessment quiz and library for all staff. Pilot links have been emailed out, with feedback forms attached, to capture users’ experiences and thoughts. A further 25 stakeholders have been involved in targeted usability testing, to give a more in-depth level of feedback.
After our first week, feedback is overwhelmingly positive. The majority of users are rating their overall experience as either 4 or 5 out of 5!
Beverley Hawkins, Dean for Taught Students, took part in the pilot and commented: “I’ve found it so useful to see potential courses/resources that match my skills gaps! Thank you... I think this is a very, very useful resource for colleagues.”
A number of helpful suggestions have been made as to how we can enhance the design and overall user experience. We will be working hard to implement updates prior to the planned launch date of the 19 March.
Developing our Skills Library
One area we are keen to develop further is the Digital Skills library. Do you have links to internal resources you have found useful? Have you developed your own resources and want to share them with others? Please get in touch!
In the meantime, you can browse LearnUpon for the new self-access courses that were developed for the Digital Skills library in collaboration with internal experts across the University. A couple of our recommendations are:
