Helen Lyndon

Nurse Consultant Older People/Fellow of the University of Plymouth Southwest Clinical School

RN, PhD, MSc, BSC (Hons), PGDip Medicine for Older People

Helen has worked as a district nurse, nurse leader, community matron, nurse practitioner and nurse consultant in primary and community care settings. She set up and provided clinical leadership to services for older people in the community including Acute Care at Home, Community Matrons, Telehealth and Nurse Practitioner for Care Homes Service. In 2016 she completed a 2 year secondment to NHS England National Nursing Directorate as Clinical Lead for Frail Older People.  Her interests include the management of frailty, falls and the development of the role of the nurse as an advanced practitioner in the area of frail older people. Helen was awarded a NIHR/HEE Integrated Clinical Academic Doctoral Research Fellowship. It funded a PhD study to examine the role of the nurse in provision of a holistic assessment and care planning intervention for older people living with frailty in community and primary care. Helen now holds a clinical academic post with NIHR/HEE post-doctoral funding to continue her research and works clinically in the falls/frailty service in Cornwall NHS.
