Would you like to change how news organisations report on heatwaves?

Would you like to help change how heatwaves are reported in the news?

We are looking for participants to take part in the first stage our Heatwave Visuals project, happening this summer (2026). Being involved means taking photos of your everyday life over the coming summer, to show us how you are being impacted by very hot weather, or how you are coping or adapting to live with very hot weather. You would then tell us about your photos in a interview with one of our friendly research team.

We want participants to share the kinds of ‘everyday snaps’ you might take quickly on a mobile phone (you do not need any previous photography experience to be involved). This is because we are interested in the stories or meanings behind participants’ photos, rather than the photo quality.

The information sheet below gives more detail about what being involved means, including how we will protect you and your data.

If you have got any questions or queries, please drop us an email at: heatwaves@exeter.ac.uk.

Ready to sign up?

Fill out this online consent form if you want to take part, and we will be in touch. Thanks for helping us to change how heatwaves are pictured in the news!
