The MaleKind Lab is a research group dedicated to understanding the needs of men across diverse identities and experiences β from mental health and suicide prevention to wider questions of how men can find belonging, purpose, and opportunities to thrive. Our work combines research with lived experience and organisational insights, aiming to generate knowledge that not only addresses risks but also strengthens possibilities for menβs wellbeing.
We are fortunate enough to have external funding for projects described in this website and future opportunities are currently being explored.
Our focus is shaped by the argument set out in this paper β that reducing male suicide requires moving beyond awareness campaigns alone, towards systems and communities that are credible, responsive, and person-centred.

The Lab is led by Dr David Francis Hunt, psychologist and researcher, who began his journey with a focus on men’s mental health and founded MaleKind Lab to be a collaborative space for all individuals passionate about this topic.
