PhD Publication Prize

Our PhD students are vital participants in the research culture of the Department and their publications (whether during or after PhD) raise the international profile of the department, as well as contribute to scientific knowledge, to their own theses and their future careers.

Eligibility:

  • The candidate should be registered for a PhD (or have been awarded a PhD in the eighteen months before the nomination deadline) within the Department
  • At least 50% of the supervision load should be academics within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Exeter
  • The nominated work should be an output that has been accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed publication

Process:

  • Nominations will be invited to all current PhD students in autumn.
  • We strongly encourage self-nominations
  • It is expected that supervisors/mentors will encourage and help identify suitable submissions
  • Nominations should include either the publication DOI or an accepted manuscript with letter of acceptance
  • Nominations should include a brief statement (max 100 words) of the significance of the paper
  • For a multi-author paper, a separate email should come jointly from supervisor and candidate that outlines the contribution of the candidate to the nominated publication
