Molecular Marine Systems
  • Molecular Marine Systems

We are a team of researchers based in the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, at the University of Exeter. We study the development, ecology and evolution of marine invertebrates.

We aim to understand how marine invertebrates use their sophisticated nervous systems to interact with their surrounding environment, and how these interactions can regulate organism behaviour, morphology and physiology. We focus on identifying specific cells, molecules and signalling networks that play important roles in the biology of marine invertebrates.

Through our research we hope to develop a better understanding of how marine invertebrates interact with and contribute to the marine ecosystems they inhabit and to generate knowledge with potential application in marine conservation and aquaculture.
