Multi-layered bacterial genome defences

Prof Mario Recker, University of Exeter

Mario is a Professor of Computational Biology at the University of Exeter.

Mario uses a variety of mathematical and statistical approaches to investigate host-pathogen interactions. He has a broad ranging research interest and works on various disease systems, including malaria, dengue and S. aureus bacteraemia. With respect to this particular project, he is leading the mathematical modelling aspect, trying to understand the evolution and maintenance of multiple bacterial defence systems and environmental conditions that exert differential selective forces on these (competing or synergistic) systems.
