Multi-layered bacterial genome defences

    Daniel Robins, University of Liverpool

Dan (he/him) is a PhD researcher at the University of Liverpool with Dr James Hall and is associated with the MultiDefence project.

Dan is a PhD student in the ELM lab, having completed his BSc at the University of Liverpool and his MScR at the University of Edinburgh. His previous work involved determining the role of conjugation as a driver for antimicrobial resistance gene spread and elucidating the regulatory mechanisms involved with biofilm morphology in Klebsiella variicola. Dan’s current position will explore the trade-offs associated with genome defence systems, mobile genetic elements, and phage susceptibility across Pseudomonas, and applying the understanding on these interactions to hospital sink microbiomes to identify possible routes for preventing antimicrobial resistant harbours.
