Multi-layered bacterial genome defences

Prof Tiffany Taylor, University of Bath

Tiffany (she/her) is Professor of Microbial Ecology and Evolution at the University of Bath.

She is a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow and her broad interests involve using experimental evolution to understand fundamental questions concerning ecological and evolutionary processes. Her team uses microbial experimental evolution in combination with molecular and bioinformatic techniques to determine the evolutionary drivers of gene regulatory networks, molecular features that determine the predictability of evolutionary outcomes, and the evolutionary and ecological drivers of the distribution, maintenance and interactions of bacterial defence systems. She is passionate about science outreach for young audiences and has authored three children’s books on evolution and genetics (www.littlestories.co.uk). When she is not science-ing, she is a mum of two and enjoys running, hiking and playing guitar (when she has time). Connect with Tiffany’s lab on @TaylorLabGroup.
