Multi-layered bacterial genome defences

Prof Malcolm F White, University of St Andrews

Malcolm (he/him) is a Professor in the School of Biology at the University of St Andrews.

His lab is focussed on the discovery and characterisation of anti-viral defence systems in prokaryotes.  They have a particular interest in systems that generate nucleotide second messengers to activate cellular defences, including type III CRISPR and CBASS. They utilise a combination of bioinformatics, microbiology, molecular and structural biology for these studies.
