Multi-layered bacterial genome defences

Dr Aleksei Agapov, University of Exeter

Aleksei (he/him) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Van Houte Lab at the University of Exeter and is funded through the MultiDefence project.

Aleksei completed his Ph.D. at Moscow State University, where his research focused on the regulation of bacterial transcription. Following his doctoral studies, Aleksei transitioned his research interests to explore antiphage defences in prokaryotes, specifically studying prokaryotic Argonaute proteins at the Institute of Molecular Genetics, Moscow. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Exeter, funded under the MSCA (UKRI Funding Guarantee) scheme. His present research interests lie in investigating synergistic interactions between prokaryotic defence mechanisms. Aleksei works on assessing resistant phenotypes in the model lab strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Connect with him @aleksei_agapov.
