Multi-layered bacterial genome defences

Anna Richmond, University of Exeter

Anna (she/her) is a PhD student at the University of Exeter with Prof Stineke Van Houte and is associated with the MultiDefence project.

She recently started a SWBio-funded PhD which looks at the synergy between bacterial defence systems. This will focus on defence systems found within clinical isolates of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and how they respond to phage infections. Previously, she was based in the Brockhurst Lab at the University of Manchester working with Dr Rosanna Wright on a project comparing resistance evolution between CRISPR and Surface Modification defence systems and how this is affected by the functional and genetic diversity of the phage combinations.
