Multi-layered bacterial genome defences

Cooper Brown, University of St Andrews

Cooper (he/him) is a PhD student at the University of St Andrews with Prof Malcolm F White and is associated with the MultiDefence project.

He began his studies as an undergraduate at the University of St Andrews and currently working towards his PhD. His research is centred on the characterisation of the PYCSAR defence system within Pseudomonas aeruginosa.  Specifically, the project is focused on elucidating how regulatory proteins such as E2 and E1E2 can modulate the production of cyclic second messenger signals to control an abortive infection response to phage infection. Personally, he enjoys wild camping in the highlands and holidays to warmer destinations for scuba diving.
