Multi-layered bacterial genome defences

Dr Maureen Micaletto, University of Exeter

Maureen (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Pagliara Lab at the University of Exeter, and is funded through the MultiDefence project.

Maureen completed a master’s program in fundamental microbiology at Sorbonne University in collaboration with the Pasteur Institute in Paris. In 2020, she commenced a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Ivan Matic (University Paris Cité). Her studies focused on E. coli metabolism and physiology. Currently, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Exeter, Maureen’s research concentrates on understanding the interplay between prokaryotic defense systems and mobile genetic elements, such as AMR genes, especially at the single-cell level.
