Multi-layered bacterial genome defences

Dr Shreya Vichare, University of Liverpool

Shreya (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Hall Lab at the University of Liverpool, and is funded through the MultiDefence project.

Shreya did her PhD at Kiel University, Germany, where she investigated the role of large plasmids in Pantoea and her research focused on the effects of plasmid loss on bacterial fitness and the genetic mechanisms underlying plasmid-host interactions. Currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Liverpool, her work will explore the interactions between mobile genetic elements and bacterial genome defense systems. Her work will aim to understand how different configurations of genome defenses influence horizontal gene transfer in the ESKAPE pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa
