PAFS

About us

What is PAFS? We are a student-led community established in 2023 to meet the needs of student-parents within the university.

Who can join PAFS? PAFS was originally designed for HASS student-parent PGRS, but since its establishment, the community spread across levels of study and disciplines. Now PAFS is an open group for all students and we welcome Post-Docs and ECRs who would benefit from joining our parent-focused community.

How do I join? We do not have memberships, this is an open community. But we do have a mailing list which you can add your details and we send out information on our events.

Who funds PAFS? PAFs was originally funded by the HASS Peer to Peer Culture Fund in 2023. In 2024 we had no consistent funding, but through partnerships and goodwill we were able to run several pro-bono events. The Students’ Guild also generously supported a number of family-friendly activities during 2024 and 2025. At present, we have no secured funding for 2025/26. We are therefore open to collaborations with individuals or organisations who would like to host an event, offer a service, or contribute resources to support our student-parent community. We also welcome those interested in joining our leadership team and shaping the future direction of PAFs. On occasion, we sometimes as for a small contribution to events from PAFS students, but mostly we ask to ‘bring a dish’ when we have community events.
