5 February 2020On March 17th there will be a meeting of the AMSP that may be of interest
In December 2019, a news article emerged detailing a “new way to teach quadratics” that could revolutionise the way the topic is taught in schools. In this meeting we will find out what that method is, how it works and whether there is any reason to be using it in the classroom. We will also discuss the pros and cons of different approaches to solving quadratics and hopefully challenge ingrained habits. Plus, probably, a bit of paper folding and the odd puzzle or two!
This meeting will be led by Ieuan Pearse, Assistant Hub Lead for the Boolean Maths Hub, leading CPD workgroups for teachers specialising in A Level Maths, Further Maths and Core Maths. Ieuan has taught Maths at Bristol Cathedral Choir School for 10 years and is Lead Practitioner for Mathematics across the Cathedral Schools Trust.
The Flyer is here: AMSP Network Meeting, with details on how to book a place.
