Helen is currently a lecturer and research tutor in the psychology and clinical psychology departments at the University of Exeter. Her research has primarily used qualitative research methods to explore a range of topics including – links between nature and wellbeing, experiences of caregivers for people with dementia, and the professional education of teachers and doctors. She has also supervised projects on environmental psychology, sexuality and gender, and women’s ageing, as well as individual student-led projects.
Coming from a varied academic background, with undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and Psychology, a Masters in Psychological Research Methods, and a PhD in Education which made links between teaching and medicine, Helen is fascinated by research which cross boundaries of methodology, discipline or professional field, and regularly attends the Psychedelic Colloquium for her own interest. Subsequently, she has become part of the supervisory team supporting Eirini Ketzitzidou Argyri with qualitative methodology for her project looking at Transformative Psychedelic Experiences.
