About us

We work as part of the Genetics of Complex Traits Team in the Department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences at University of Exeter Medical School

Professor Anna Murray
Anna is Professor of Human Genetics and Director of Research and Impact for the Department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences. Her main research expertise is in the field of reproductive genetics and she has published on single gene mutations which cause premature ovarian failure and also genome-wide studies to detect novel loci involved in reproductive ageing. 

Dr Julia Prague 
Julia is a clinical academic in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and General Internal Medicine at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and University of Exeter. Her research interests include menopausal symptoms and potential new treatments, and the impact of the menopause transition on glycaemic control in diabetes.

Dr Katherine Ruth
Kate is a Lecturer in the Department of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences. Her research interests and publications are in using health records data to conduct genome-wide analyses of the genetics of reproductive traits and their effects on health. 

Luke Mahoney
Luke is a PhD student (Sep 2021- ) jointly supervised by the University of Exeter and University of Bristol, as part of Bristol’s Cancer Research UK Integrative Cancer Epidemiology Programme.

Sophia McDowell
Sophia is a PhD student (Sep 2023- ) jointly supervised with Dr Jessica Tyrrell at the University of Exeter.

Previous students/staff:
