University of Exeter Sport have lit the blue touchpaper for an exhilarating 2023/34 rugby season by announcing two standout North v South games for the men’s and women’s teams.
Sandy Park, the home of the Exeter Chiefs, will play host to two standout fixtures for the forthcoming season, in what promises to be an ‘Exe-hibition’ of high calibre rugby.
The fixtures, which are part of the BUCS Super Rugby and Women’s National League, will see the very best rugby talent from across the University pit their wits against top-quality opposition.
The University of Exeter Men’s 1st XV will welcome Durham University to Sandy Park on Wednesday, October 25th at 7.45pm, in their BUCS Super Rugby league fixture.
This will be Gareth Elliott’s first feature fixture at Sandy Park as Head of Men’s Rugby: “These spotlight fixtures are a stand-out in our fixture list and we can’t wait to take the field. We know that Durham will provide tough opposition but I’m sure the players will raise their level of performance in line with the occasion while sticking to our principles of playing exhilarating rugby.”
Meanwhile, in the women’s game, the University of Exeter’s 1st XV have secured a special platform to showcase their exceptional talent in a key fixture.
The team will face the University of Edinburgh in their BUCS Women’s National League fixture at Sandy Park on Saturday March 9th 2024. The fixture will run in tandem with the Exeter Chiefs women, who will be playing after in PWR match against Loughborough Lightning.
Head of Women’s Rugby and current Exeter Chiefs player Poppy Leitch said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for the Women’s team to showcase the exceptional talent on show in this double-header fixture. The Women’s game is growing from strength to strength not just at the University, but across the world and we are delighted to have this platform to show supporters new and old the talent we have at our disposal.”
