Hi! I’m Nicola, a second year student studying Management with Marketing from Hong Kong. This is a day in my life!
I’m up bright and early at 7:30am, as I like to take my time to make breakfast and watch the news in the Morning. Today, like most days, my breakfast of choice is Porridge because it warms me up on a cold morning. After breakfast, I’m off to attend my lecture. I actually really enjoy walking to school, I get to appreciate how beautiful the campus is. (If I’m lucky, I even get to spot a few squirrels on my way to campus!)
After my lecture, I helped out with the International Forum Market, an event hosted by the International Students Council. The International Forum Market is an annual event where different international societies set up stalls selling food from their country. I look forward to this event every year because I love trying out different types of food, and love experiencing new cultures. As a committee member of the Hong Kong Public Affairs and Social Service society, I helped with the sales of our stall. We sold a range of different Hong Kong snacks, such as Bubble Tea, Egg Tarts and Curry Fish Balls. It was well received by students, especially students from Asia! It was such a rewarding experience to see how happy our snacks made students feel, as it gave students a taste of home.
Next up I have a group meeting for one of my marketing modules, Consumer Research. What I love the most about my course is how hands on it is. Group work enables you to develop strong team working skills, you’re able to learn from others and work collaboratively. You’re also able to meet new people, and even develop friendships over time!
After our long meeting, we head over to Zizzi’s on the high street to reward ourselves for our hard work. One of my favourite things about Exeter is how close everything is. The high street is a 10-15 minute walk away from campus, so it’s very convenient.
And that’s it! This was my day in a life as an international Exeter student!
