2025.08.07 Participant recruitment closing soon

Posted by TILEd

7 August 2025

Thank you to everyone – active and reserve participants – who have signed up so far.

If you haven’t signed up yet, the reserve list is still open until end August 2025!

Read on for details:

Who should sign up?

  • People who work professionally as an interpreter and/or translator and have views on university based language education
  • People who occasionally help others out by translating and/or interpreting conversations or documents
  • People who teach language(s) at university
  • People who teach translation and/or interpreting
  • Educators or professionals who have views on the future of university language education (in the light of AI and neural machine translation).

Why?

Because even with AI progress, getting rid of language, translation and interpreting programmes isn’t a sustainable policy. Quite the opposite. Evidence already shows that we need people with even sharper, more sophisticated language skills.

What is the point of UTILE?

1) Charting current practice of university educators and language professionals

2) Combining this with theory

3) Producing a map that university educators can use as a reference to keep language, translation and interpreting relevant in the face of change and for the next generation of AI-native learners.
