Association of Law Teachers Annual Conference
Exeter 2026
The Association of Law Teachers is a vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive community of academics, professionals and practitioners engaged in legal education across countries. Members support legal learning in schools, colleges, universities, and professional sectors, on campus, face-to-face, and online. It aims to inspire and celebrate excellence in the teaching of law, and to share the understanding and practice of legal learning.
The Association of Law Teachers has been at the forefront of legal education in the UK since it was founded in 1965. Over the years, it has served as a platform for collaboration, innovation and the exchange of ideas among legal educators, with the annual conference acting as the main event for its activities. The ALT’s Annual Conference is the main annual event of the Association, where the vibrant, welcoming and inclusive community of academics, professionals, and practitioners that the ALT represents come together to engage in discourse on all dimensions of legal education.
At the 60th Anniversary Conference at the University of Strathclyde in April 2025, the University of Exeter Law School was announced as the host university partner for the 2026 ALT Annual Conference which will be held on our Streatham campus in April 2026 and will run both in person and online.
The conference theme for the 2026 ALT Annual Conference is ‘Reimagining Legal Education for the Future of Law‘. This website will be updated regularly in the lead up to the conference with useful information for presenters and delegates on how to get here, where to stay and how to register. The conference programme and biographies of our keynote speakers will also be made available in due course.
The ALT 2026 Annual Conference organising committee at Exeter Law School will be led by Dr Louise Loder, Senior Lecturer in Law, Director of Skills and Prizes / ALT Executive Committee Member, and Dr David Yuratich, Senior Lecturer in Law, Co-Director of Education and Student Experience / ALT Trustee and Executive Committee Member.
