Why we use Agile methodologies
In UoE Digital we use Agile ways of working. One of our Chapters is named Agile Capability and Planning which focuses on ensuring we work effectively and adopt Agile methodologies correctly in a ways which benefits us and the University. We have been using Agile to develop many products and services, one being the new UoE App. We have just completed Sprint 27 and have a working app on it’s fourth release with many features which users have told us they want to see in the app, and are close to releasing to all students. Using the Scrum Framework (just one of many Agile methodologies) has meant that we have learned and adapted quickly, addressing issues along the way and have built what we in Agile term as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) thanks to introducing Agile ways of working.

What is an agile community and why we have created one?
Our Agile Community of Practice is a supportive space where members can engage in open discussions, sharing their challenges and successes in adopting Agile ways of working processes and practices. In line with our Digital Strategy 2030, the Community is committed to continuous learning, collaboration, and transformative innovation through co-creation and bringing people together, creating shared capabilities.
We created this Agile Community to enable everyone around the University to learn from one another and share thoughts and ideas, helping us to all work in an Agile way effectively. Anybody within the University wanting to adopt Agile ways of working must do so through the Community. A more joined up, consistent way of Agile working across the University will enable us to all be aware of others using Agile across the University and to learn from each other.
Through the Community, UoE Digital provide advice and resources, including Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches, as well as regular training and workshops to help people to adopt Agile ways of working across the University.
Why should I join the Community?
If you are wanting to adopt Agile ways of working in your area of the organisation you must do so through our Agile Community of Practice to ensure consistency in ways of working throughout the organisation.
Joining the Agile Community of Practice will help you to deliver exceptional products and services and be more customer-centric. You will gain access to knowledge, training and resources, empowering you to implement Agile more effectively in your area of the organisation.
The networking opportunities, workshops, and events offered by our community will also help you strengthen your problem-solving skills and foster a culture of adaptability and innovation within your team.
