    Discounts on travel and accommodation

With conference registration now open and paper submission approaching the deadline on March 1, 2026, we have put together useful tips for participants’ travel and accommation. There is a limited number of direct flights into Exeter, including a daily connection from Amsterdam, for which we expect increased demand. Flights into Bristol or London Heathrow can be convenient alternatives, with special discounts offered by airlines of the Lufthansa Group. For participants from Western Europe, an environmentally friendly option is the Eurostar from Paris or Brussels.

Exeter can be easily reached by train from most major UK cities. Significant discounts for conference participants are available on the Great Western Railways network. Budget-conscious travelers can also find frequent connections with intercity coaches.

While early July is still before the main holiday season, Exeter can already become quite busy with tourists stopping on their way to the South West holiday destinations and other events taking place at the university. Early booking of accommodation is therefore recommended. We have reserved a range of rooms at discounted rates in various hotels; there is also a cheaper on-campus bed and breakfast option.

International participants should check whether they require a visa for traveling to the UK. In most cases, an electronic travel authorization is sufficient.
