19 October 2023The Family Law Clinic provides free legal advice and casework support to client’s acting as litigants in person. We currently have three volunteer legal assistant opportunities available.
The role will include:
– Undertaking initial telephone calls with clients to gather information and prepare them for their appointment/s
– Assisting with legal research
– Assisting with file management
– Shadowing appointments and assisting with attendance notes
– Appointment booking and signposting when needed
We are accepting applications from third year law students, currently studying family law. This is an excellent opportunity to experience a wide range of family cases, and gain practical legal experience. We are seeking dedicated, self-motivated individuals, who have a passion for access to justice. We ask that you are regularly able to commit to one day or two half-days every on a bi-weekly basis. There is a compulsory two-day training session.
Final Year Students studying/who have studied family law
Commitment: Regular commitment on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
