The UK-China Higher Education Young Talent Alliance (HEYTA) conference will be hosted at the University of Exeter this September with an aim to promote cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between talented students from across prestigious, research-intensive, higher education institutions in the UK and China (including UCL, Loughborough, Tsinghua, Fudan – and Exeter).

Background
Since its establishment in 2016, the China-UK Humanities Alliance has held multiple conferences, exchanges, and events among scholars. To expand academic discussion and cooperation in the student community, HEYTA was initiated in 2019 exploring ways for students to engage in cross-cultural communication between the UK and China.

HEYTA 2024 will cover the following topics:
Activities
Experts and scholars in the areas of the topics above will be invited to give short lectures and workshops to participating students followed by Q&A sessions.
Participating students will not have to prepare beforehand and during the conference will be asked to work in small cross-university groups on a relevant topic of their choice.
They will make group presentations during the closing event and prepare videos for social media and write a short academic piece on this topic for a dedicated HEYTA blog. The academic programme will be complemented by a social and cultural programme.
