Equality and Law: Workshop for students and staff

Posted by The Law School

10 February 2025

Wednesday 26 February

1.30-3.30pm

As part of LGBTQ+ history month the Law School and Law Society are putting on a workshop for both staff and students to explore the relationship between LGBTQ+ equality and law.

In small groups participants will explore three broad questions:

  • Past – what success has law had in advancing LGBTQ+ equality?
  • Present – what (legal) barriers still remain to LGBTQ+ equality?
  • Future – what can law, lawyers and legal mechanisms do to address these barriers going forward?

It is hoped that as a result of this workshop we will have some action points that we can utilise to advance LGBTQ+ equality as individuals, scholars, activists and as a community in the Law School and in the wider world.

The workshop will take place 1:30-3:30pm, Wednesday 26 February in the Forum. Refreshments will be provided.

There is space for 40 participants. If you would like to take part please sign up here.

If you have any questions please contact Dr David Barrett (d.barrett@exeter.ac.uk).
