26 February 2025Students and alumni gathered for a brilliant Canadian Law Career Development event in the Moot Court recently. Organised by the Law School Employability team and the Canadian Law Society it was an opportunity for students to take a breather from studies to focus on future career ideas and skills.
They were joined in person by alumna Lisa Reeve who works at The Family Law Company in Plymouth. The students had the opportunity to develop their CVs, learnt about the NCA process and discovered more about different career paths. A panel of Canadian alumni provided them with real-life insights and perspectives on a range of careers. The day ended with a great social at ISCA Eats. With thanks to our alumni, Colton Riley, George Ikonomou, Saxon Shaw, Lily Amyot and Lisa Reeve for sharing their time and experiences with our students.
The students were really engaged with all aspects of this event! The NCA session on how to qualify in Canada was well run and informative. Students took a lot from the cv/resume workshop, understanding how to turn their cv/resume into a living dynamic document which really tells their story and can be made instantly attractive to employers. Then the alumni panel really cemented the reality that almost no career paths are straightforward, and there are many different ways to find your joy and passion in your work.
