Careers Guidance Appointments

Law careers appointments with Laura and Tess are available for all Law students and they are really useful if you are not sure what you want to do.

How to book:

Log into Handshake, https://exeter.joinhandshake.co.uk/stu/appointments/new and go to Career Centre, Appointments, Book an Appointment, Law School Guidance, and choose the relevant appointment type.

If you would like an advice appointment to explore placements, internships, CV, application or LinkedIn advice, Nick Havergal and Melissa Benson have self-book appointments on Handshake too.

Easter vacation career ideas

Do take some time out over Easter but if you fancy investing in your career plans, here are a few ideas:

  • The Career Mentor Scheme is now open for applications where you are matched to a mentor for 6 months including over the summer period.  It’s a great way to get expert advice.  You can search for mentors on Handshake in the Jobs section by typing in Career Mentor with the occupation you are interested in.  There are lots to choose from a wide variety of occupations.  If you are interest is Law-related, here is a link to the current Law mentors currently available: (10) Postings | Handshake
  • There are also lots of jobs and internships advertised on Handshake, as well as events taking place during the Easter holidays.
  • Spring is definitely in the air, so it is a good opportunity to expand your network on LinkedIn and Handshake and update your profiles. You can also connect and network via the Law School LinkedIn page :-).
  • Training contract deadlines are coming up but there’s still time to apply! Check out the last dates to apply here Training contract deadlines | Law training contracts and here UK Law Trackers – Trackr (Formerly Bristol Tracker).
  • Learn how law firms are using the latest in AI to drive new methods of legal document management in a free webinar from the UK’s Law Society. Learn from expert speakers as they explore the common challenges of document management, and how firms can overcome these challenges with technology-led approaches. Thursday 27th March 2-3pm.
